J.D. and his family have been Howard residents since 2006. He’s been married to wife Amy for 22 years, and they have two teenagers that attend Bay Port High School. J.D. is an IT Director at NWTC and Amy is an elementary music teacher.
Education & Early Years
J.D. grew up in northern Wisconsin (Tomahawk) and Amy is from Appleton. They met while attending Gustavus Adolphus College in St. Peter, Minnesota. J.D. earned a B.A. in Computer Science and found work as a Software Engineer for IBM in Rochester. He later earned a Master of Business Administration from Cardinal Stritch University’s Rochester campus.
Howard & Green Bay
After spending 7 years in Rochester, the Kopps moved back to Wisconsin. They chose Howard as they found a great place to live that was close to their extended families, and provided access to management opportunities for J.D.’s IT career. The Kopps enjoy attending their kids’ HSSD activities, biking the Mountain Bay Trail, cross country skiing at Barkhausen and the Reforestation Camp, and serving in multiple area churches. J.D. is an organist and plays concerts and worship services throughout the Green Bay area.
