Political newcomer challenges longtime incumbent Burt McIntyre

Village of Howard resident J.D. Kopp will run against incumbent Burt McIntyre in the election for Village President. McIntyre has held the office since 2008.
“I believe it is time for new leadership in our Village. We need fresh ideas, better communication, and different priorities at Village Hall to effectively manage today’s challenges.”
Kopp has been a Howard resident since 2006. He has over 20 years leadership experience in the Information Technology field and is currently an IT Director for Northeast Wisconsin Technical College. He also founded Kopp Financial, a firm that provides investment management services, and he serves in area churches as an organist and choir director. J.D. has been married to wife Amy for 22 years and they have two teenagers that attend Bay Port High School.
“My IT work involves managing people, vendor contracts, and complex processes. I have an MBA, so I’ve studied accounting and finance, and I have extensive organizational leadership experience. I look forward to leveraging all my skills and experience at Village Hall.”
Kopp’s priorities for Howard include changes to housing policy, a greater emphasis on environmental stewardship, and working with the city of Green Bay to expand Green Bay Metro into the village. He would also like to see the village work on diversity issues.
Michele Swaer is also in the race. A primary election is scheduled for February 21, with a general election on April 4, 2023.
